Magnesium L-Threonate / 90 Capsules

Neuro-Mag

The magnesium made for the part of you that thinks.

Most magnesium raises levels in the bloodstream and stops there. Magnesium L-threonate was developed for a narrower job: supporting magnesium levels in the brain. Neuro-Mag delivers it as patented Magtein®, at the dose used in research.

The form is the whole question

Why your magnesium probably isn’t doing what you bought it for

Magnesium is one mineral, but it arrives bound to a carrier molecule — and that carrier decides how much gets absorbed, how the gut handles it, and where in the body it ends up. Buying “magnesium” without checking the carrier is like buying “medicine.” The category is real; it just doesn’t tell you anything.

Form Elemental Mg Absorption Generally chosen for
L-threonate ~7% Good Cognitive and memory support
Glycinate ~14% Good Relaxation, general repletion, evening use
Taurate ~9% Good Cardiovascular and nervous system support
Malate ~15% Good Daytime use, general repletion
Citrate ~16% Moderate General intake, regularity
With vitamin B6 Varies Varies Stress and fatigue formulations
Oxide ~60% Poor (single digits) High label numbers, low cost

Magnesium with B6

The classic European stress formula, usually citrate or lactate paired with vitamin B6. The logic is that B6 supports magnesium’s movement into the cell rather than just into the blood. A reasonable pairing for general repletion — but B6 doesn’t change where the magnesium goes. Pairing it with a carrier that stays outside the brain doesn’t make it a cognitive supplement.

Magnesium taurate

Magnesium bound to taurine, an amino acid with its own role in cardiac and nervous tissue. It’s the form most often positioned for cardiovascular and calming use, and the reasoning is sound — though most of the supporting work is preclinical rather than large human trials. Choose it for what taurine brings, not because it’s “the absorbable one.”

Magnesium L-threonate

Bound to threonic acid, and developed specifically with brain magnesium levels in mind — which is why it appears in cognitive stacks and nowhere near the constipation aisle. It carries the least elemental magnesium of any common form, which is exactly the point of confusion this page exists to clear up.

Three reasons it “didn’t work”

One

You matched the form to the price

Oxide at 400 mg looks like far more magnesium than L-threonate at 144 mg. On absorption it usually isn’t — and on destination, it isn’t even the same product category.

Two

You read the big number

Label milligrams describe the compound, not the mineral, and neither describes what your body absorbed. A form with less elemental magnesium and better delivery can put more where you want it.

Three

You gave it a week

Magnesium repletion is measured in weeks, and the research on L-threonate runs to twelve. If you tried a bottle for ten days and stopped, you didn’t test it.

There’s no single best magnesium — there’s a best magnesium for a stated goal. If yours is general daily intake, glycinate is a better buy, and the two are commonly taken together.

The problem with magnesium

If any of this sounds familiar

Magnesium has one of the highest abandonment rates of any supplement people buy. Not because it doesn’t matter — because most bottles solve a different problem than the one that made someone reach for them.

“I’ve taken magnesium before and felt nothing.”

The most common reason is the carrier. Oxide makes up most of what’s sold, carries a big number on the label, and is absorbed at single-digit percentages. Feeling nothing from it isn’t a failure of magnesium — it’s a form chosen for shelf price.

Here: Magtein® magnesium L-threonate at the 2,000 mg dose used in research, chosen for absorption rather than for the number it lets us print.

“Magnesium wrecks my stomach.”

Citrate and oxide both draw water into the bowel. That’s why they double as laxatives, and why the dose people actually tolerate is often well below the dose on the label.

Here: L-threonate has a noticeably milder digestive profile. For many people it’s the first magnesium they can take nightly without planning around it.

“Every focus supplement is a proprietary blend.”

Eleven ingredients, one combined milligram total, and no way to know what you’re taking or at what dose. The blend exists to hide the dosing, not to protect a formula.

Here: One active compound. 2,000 mg of Magtein®, yielding 144 mg of elemental magnesium. Both numbers printed, nothing to hide behind.

“I can never tell if I’m taking enough.”

Most labels state the compound weight rather than the elemental magnesium, so working out your actual intake takes arithmetic and a search engine.

Here: Three capsules, both numbers stated on this page, no conversion required.

“I buy a bottle, then lose the thread by week two.”

Thirty capsules in, nothing dramatic has happened, and the bottle moves to the back of the cupboard. Magnesium doesn’t announce itself, and the research on L-threonate runs twelve weeks.

Here: The two-bottle option is priced to be the obvious choice, because sixty days is the shortest honest trial — and the evening routine guide comes with it for the same reason.

“I don’t want five more pills in my evening.”

Stacks get abandoned because they turn into logistics, not because they stop working.

Here: One product, one time, three capsules. Take it when you brush your teeth and you’re done.

None of this makes magnesium a miracle. It makes it a supplement worth taking properly instead of taking badly.

The routine

How people actually take it

Daily

Three capsules, one time

Take all three together, or split them across the day. Both work. Pick whichever you’ll remember without thinking about it.

Evening

Most people choose night

L-threonate is gentle on the stomach, so an evening dose is easy to live with — and it pairs naturally with a wind-down routine.

Long game

Give it twelve weeks

Research on magnesium L-threonate runs over months, not days. This is a routine item, which is exactly why two bottles beats one.

Free with 2 and 3 bottles

Questions

Before you order

144 mg of magnesium sounds low. Is it?

It’s low on purpose. Elemental milligrams and usefulness aren’t the same measurement. L-threonate is chosen for how it’s absorbed rather than for the number printed on the label. If your goal is general daily magnesium intake, pair this with a second form.

Will it upset my stomach?

Magnesium L-threonate is noticeably gentler than oxide or citrate, which are known for their laxative effect. Tolerability is one of the main reasons people switch to it.

How is this different from magnesium B6 or taurate?

Different carriers, different destinations. B6 formulas support general repletion and are sold against stress and fatigue. Taurate is chosen for what taurine contributes to cardiac and nervous tissue. L-threonate was developed with brain magnesium levels in mind. None of them is the best magnesium — each is the best for a different stated goal.

Why is two bottles the recommended option?

Clinical work on magnesium L-threonate typically runs twelve weeks. One bottle is thirty days — enough to see how you tolerate it, not enough to judge a routine. Two bottles covers sixty days at a lower price per bottle, ships free, and includes the evening mobility guide.

How do I get the PDF?

It’s emailed automatically after checkout on the 2-bottle and 3-bottle options. Nothing to add to the cart, no code to enter.

Can I take it with other magnesium?

Many people do — L-threonate for cognitive support, another form for general intake. If you’re taking medication or under treatment for any condition, speak with your healthcare provider first.
